Editing and the Villains

Been a little bit since I made a post on here, but I assure you, I am nearly finished with it all. The stories had been written, over and over again. Editing is the last thing that needs done which will be done on computer.
Ya know what, while I am here, let me tell you a little something about editing your own work. It sucks, okay? It is the worst part of the entire process. Why, you ask? Mainly due to the fact that a lot of scenes and dialogue is changed and or even removed. I think I have changed the speed and flavor of my stories like eight times before I was satisfied with the outcome that I have now. I ALSO HAVE REMOVED THREE SCENES I LOVED! It's so frustrating when you write something you really like, but you look back at it again from afar, and realize....hey this doesn't even fit what's going on. ADHD people, this is the what I deal with everyday. Do I wanna write this, or that, do I wanna do this or that?
GRRRR!!
Last I checked, I spent three days doing nothing with the story, but rerolling the plot in my head, twits, and turns. ADHD makes it hard to sit down for long and type and write away. Coffee is my only friend. Hmm, beginning to sound like a journal of a survivor of the apocalypse.
As for what it is I am working on, it's a small collection of short stories within the Hyperion Galaxy and an excerpt of the first novel/novella that is based within this galaxy. So essentially a few chapters of the novel/novella, and two short stories, though I do believe one of these short stories is going to become a full fledged character within the Hyperion Lore. I think readers will like this character a lot.
Moving on to the next topic, villains. OH HOW I LOVE THEM!! I love writing villains, I love reading them, and I love to hate them. A good villain makes the story all the better when you're hero is just as interesting. I always have a hard time picking sides when I am taken in by the villain and hero at the same time. Examples? Jacen Solo/Darth Caidus...Cadius...whatever his name is, was and still is my favorite villain in the Star Wars novels of Legends. The fact I could never tell if he was being evil, or trying to do good always captivated me, and that's how I want my first villain to be. I want my readers to grit their teeth in agony as they make up their minds whether or not a character is the villain or just happened to choke up among all the good he/she has done. I want to make them rack their brains against these villain, trying to figure out which one is really the bad guy here. Evil is not always define by mass genocide and dark chuckles.
Anyways, this is all I got for now, gonna head back to editing, and pouring me another cup of coffee, light up a smoke and get to work. I hope to soon have a cover ready for all of ya'll tonight.
Peace out my scifi junkine!!
