Building a Galaxy

Every fictional writer is usually building her/his own world right as the first sentence of their story is written, and continues to build with every word after that. The further I write, the more I build the Hyperion Galaxy, and let me tell you something...THIS IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING TASK EVER!! Why? Every single creature, planet, technology, and character has now added to the lore of the land...space...galaxy place. When I create X species from planet X, I have now create a possible solar system, and with that means more planets, more possible aliens, and even more on the governments, society, tech, and so on. That's a lot of brainstorming to do, and just cause I can see them in my head, doesn't mean it's easy putting it to the paper.

Don't get my wrong, world creating is a blast, and because it's mine, I have the freedom to do whatever I want with it. I am the god of this universe so to speak. It's fun coming up with new and unique ways the Hyperion Galaxy works, and sometimes it's not always new and unique as inspiration comes in many forms. Imagine how George Lucas felt as he sat down, explaining and coming up with concepts for the billions of aliens he made for Star Wars. Guy probably had a few shots of whiskey just to keep himself from making obvious and bland characters like the typical little green men from Mars. BUT, sometimes, little green men can be turned into much more than the stereotypical Martian, something I must continue to remind myself each time I create a new species.

If you reach further into the galaxy of Hyperion, you'll see so many different aspects of life, culture diversity is something I strive to keep in this world. I don't want any one culture to be just like the next one, it's my number one rule in this journey of mine into the galaxy as I play creator of the cosmos. Writing is a passion, science fiction is the core of that passion, and I hope that really shines through when people read my stories.
